You cannot control the wind, but you can control your sails. - Sailing Axiom

Don't fight forces, use them. - R. Buckminster Fuller

As a general rule, it is foolish to do just what other people are doing, because there are almost sure to be too many people doing the same thing. - William Stanley Jevons

We discovered our Shanghai-La by following the advice of mentors. During the 1st trip to Uruguay in 2002 we were bullish on commodities adding interest to the allure of the Uruguayan coast.

Raging inflation and extreme levels of cost of capital presented an opportunity and eventual arbitrage to sell a project in Arizona during the great housing mania of 2006. Sleeping out of a VW Eurovan while working 7 days a a week in Del Mar, California helped create some clarity & conviction.

We envision more opportunity in the world than ever. Our company structure will be centered around a royalty finance concept to ensure a prudent allocation of capital to entrepreneurial endeavors. Building teams who can create their own skin in the game. Manantiales was chosen as the 1st location with a primary focus on Quality over Quantity > An artists village.

The past depression upon our arrival to Montevideo in 2002 acted in many ways akin to a constructive Forrest Fire [Currency / Banking crisis in The Southern Cone Countries at that time]. Debts can be paid thru inflation [pernicious default].

The global world needs real capital / collateral. The past decade in Western Europe & USA Inc [East India Co Crown Colony] has made it clear there IS NO GOING BACK TO SOLVENCY. Most citizenry in North America conflate rising stock prices with wealth creation not considering the denominator.

Financial Distortions Not Respected > Opportunity.

Current Western World financial centers currently continue with a policy response of ‘liquidity’ vs solvency only adding to our interests in more natural eco / financial systems [Dow of Capital > Conifer > M. Spitznagel]. The process of cleansing excess unplayable debts can be extended in financial centers but remember assets are ephemeral where debts remain eternal. Entrepreneurs must respect real math [balance sheets] and history.

Safe Havens during Margin Calls are always in Vogue / obvious after the event.

‘There are three types of people in this world… those who make stuff happen, those who watch it happen… and those who awaken and wonder what the hell happened?’

Jim Rogers made some comments about Punta del Este which were confirmed on our recent trip back to review projects in action. We hope to see all friends upon our opening or later when Posada Ikigai is open for the experience.

Punta del Este in the old resort is changing again for the better. Not so many from North America this trip but one can see the European’s are coming back > some for the long haul. Great to see our friends at La Huella en Jose Ignacio. A classic. More to come on the area as this site is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
